Photo Opp!

Luke recently had the opportunity to meet someone famous.
And I'm sure that he remembers every detail of his encounter.

Can anybody guess who it is?

Clues:
a) Look at his shoes.
b) One for One.

Happy Birthday Grandpa B.

Guess what Grandpa?  You're only 775 months older than me!

Do you see a theme in the little guys' attire?

Home Made Lotion

Bars.

My sister and I attempted home made lotion last spring.  It was a few steps above "dismal failure";  unless you're a fan of an overpowering, expired flowery perfume scent.

The next batch my sister made was a little runny, and scent-less, in comparison anyway.  I solved the runny problem with my pure genius...er..laziness.  After changing Luke's diaper I would put lotion on his legs, and never put the lid back on.  It dried out to a nice buttery thickness.  And then I ran out.

But, I found these.
SO EASY.
SO FAST.

Have you ever used lotion bars?

The more we get together, together, together...

Three years ago, Matt and I went on our first date...which just happened to be Valentine's Day.  So while we aren't normally the type to celebrate the "Greeting card holidays"...we do like to remember where we were!

Summer 2007:  The beautiful blonde that is the cause of all of this.
(there's a very long and involved back story!)

Kiwi - currently serving as a Seeing Eye Dog

February 2008:  The infamous ski trip to Colorado that involved an "entanglement of bodies".

May 2008:  Indy Mini

July 2008:  Fourth of July

July 2008:  Katie & Neil's Wedding, Gladstone, MI

October 2008:  Devil's Lake State Park, WI

Election Day, November 2008:  He asked, I said yes.

April 2009: Square Dance at our Rehearsal Dinner

April 11, 2009

Honeymoon, Vancouver, BC

September, 2009:  U2 in Chicago

October 2009:  Mulligan Honeymoon (Caribbean Cruise)

December 2009: Skiing in Colorado

March 2010: San Francisco

May 2010:  The Housemate's Wedding

July 2010: We like to eat.

August 2010:  It's (finally) Ours!

September 15, 2010: Three's Company

Record Snowfall in Northwest Arkansas!

Snow day today...in fact, we're probably going to have to shovel the whole alley if we're going to get the car out before it melts.  17" measured in the driveway, with many drifts deeper than that!  When is Luke old enough to shovel?
Somewhere there is a garden. And a woodpile. And a compost bin.

Perfect seat in the garage while dad shovels.

If I make enough bubbles...

Snow!

More snow!

Why did mom take me under the deck?

And more snow!

Neighbors have a Jeep.  Dad wants a Jeep.  Anyone want to sell us a 2005-2006 Jeep Liberty CRD (diesel)?

Mommy looks short.

We miss this guy...

17 in.
your eyes are NOT playing tricks on you

Why oh why did we sell our U.P. worthy snowblower?

Super Bowl Recap!

Well, if you're anything like the majority of the American population, you were watching the Super Bowl last night. And hopefully gorging yourself in fabulous food!

We had the "Soderfellows" (GAs from Matt's office) over for a little party.

To celebrate a VERY AMERICAN tradition...(which why are they called the "World Champions"? Can someone please explain that to me?), ethnic foods were our theme.
And, wow...was it good (uhhmmm, forget to take pictures - I was too busy eating!).

Just imagine; Texas caviar, guacamole, Costa Rican layered tacos, Russian dumplings, and Greek mushroom/phyllo puffs. WOW.

To keep the interest of our not very football-versed party goers (3 out of 8 grew up oversees in Russia, Costa Rica, or Kenya), we had everyone fill out their predictions:

Question

Prediction

Who will win the coin toss?

What brand and product will be featured in the 1st commercial after the kickoff?

Who will score the first touchdown?

Who will score first?

What will the score at half-time be?

How many yards will Aaron Rodgers (GB QB) pass for?

What will the final score be?

Which team will kick the most field goals?

How many combined fumbles will there be?

How many combined interceptions?

How many sacs, combined?

What will the first commercial of the 3rd quarter be (product and brand)?

What car will be advertised without actually showing the car?

Which team will call the first time out?

Which team will use their coach’s challenge first?

Why?

1. It helped keep people's attention :)
What car will be advertised without actually showing the car?
This commercial didn't air until the 4th quarter...so everyone was waiting anxiously!

2. We sifted through our "garage sale pile" to make prizes! (nothing like the Heritage Christian School cookbook for a prize!)

3. Mommy & Daddy thought it was a GREAT IDEA to make the Grand Prize a certificate for a "date night" (free babysitting!) with Luke.

Luke enjoyed the game too...sporting his Green & Yellow!
(He does have a Packers shirt, but it's still HUGE on him.)

Did your team win?
What was your favorite/least favorite commercial?
Do you watch for the game, the commercials, the half-time show, or some combination?

Watch out, there's a new man in town.

It was time.
Yes.
Even good things can be made better.
Nettie's famous pizza included.

What is Nettie's famous pizza? Whole wheat crust with chicken, alfredo, pesto, spinach, and mozzarella.
So good. We even served it at our wedding.

Why change it?
Because when you move to Northwest Arkansas, the closest Giordanos Famous Chicago Style Pizza is approximately 9 hours away. That's not exactly "in town". Not cool. And sometimes you just want deep dish.

Not to mention, only one half of Matt and Lynette is madly in love with chicken/alreado/pesto/spinach/mozzarella pizza.
Wonder which half that is?

Anyway, we had to remedy our situation.

We commandeered a 14" deep dish pizza pan.

I spent hours researching pizza crust recipes.

We collected the world class ingredients.

I spent hours toiling over a hot stove preparing the perfect pizza sauce.
I worked my magic with the dough.

Assembled said deep dish pizza.

Waited impatiently for it to bake.

Devoured it.

What makes your perfect pizza?

Snow, Snow, Snow!

Snow
It won't be long before we'll all be there with snow
Snow
I want to wash my hands, my face and hair with snow

Snow
I long to clear a path and lift a spade of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a great big man entirely made of snow

Where it's snowing
All winter through
That's where I want to be
Snowball throwing
That's what I'll do
How I'm longing to ski
Through the snow-oh-oh-oh-oh

Those glist'ning houses that seem to be built of snow
Snow
Oh, to see a mountain covered with a quilt of snow

What is Christmas with no snow
No white Christmas with no snow
Snow

I'll soon be there with snow
I'll wash my hair with snow
And with a spade of snow
I'll build a man that's made of snow
I'd love to stay up with you but I recommend a little shuteye
Go to sleep
And dream of snow

Oh Bing, how I wish you were singing to me right now.

Let's put this in perspective:

It was 73 on Saturday.

It's 25 today.

So we passed the time hula-ing.

What are you doing to pass the time and avoid cabin fever?

Be looking forward to the recap of our super bowl party!
